Understanding Your Dreams: The Emotional Connection

When doing dream analysis the first key step is to focus on the emotions you experienced during the dream and immediately after waking.

Identifying these emotions is often easier with the help of an emotion wheel, a tool that categorises a wide range of emotional states and helps bring clarity to what you’re feeling.

By pinpointing the exact emotions present in the dream, you can start making connections to similar feelings you’ve encountered in your waking life. This process can provide valuable insights into the dream’s meaning. For example, if you felt anxious during the dream, reflect on recent moments in your daily life where that same anxiety surfaced. If you are unsure have a look at the surrounding emotions and see if it was perhaps more of a fear, overwhelm or worry.

When we can label the feeling with more clarity it helps to reveal the connection. These parallels can reveal underlying themes or issues the dream is pointing toward, offering a deeper understanding of its significance.
